Great news! WeFarm, the agriculture technical company that helps farmers worldwide to connect with each other, has secured 1,5 million euro in funding for their excellent work. The funding comes from LocalGlobe, a UK-based venture capital firm that focuses on seed and impact investments.
Kenny Ewan took the stage on March 31 at TEDxBinnenhof | Ideas from Europe, to share his vision on how to stimulate farmers in remote places, to help them with their company and farming activities, on a low-tech level. His talk was inspiring, and it paid off!
“We believe that this network, whether delivered on feature or smart phones, will, over time, become an important channel for farmers into the wider food supply chain,” said LocalGlobe partner Saul Klein.
WeFarm enables farmers to share information via SMS, without the internet and without having to leave their farm. CEO Kenny Ewan “There is still massive global inequality around access to information, but by designing services for basic mobile phones you can create social impact on an unprecedented scale as well as develop a highly profitable social business.”
